Birthday Suits garner such adjectives as “bombastic”, “unhinged” and “universal fun” in a combination of 70’s-era punk and more modern indie noise elements. Hideo Takahashi (guitar/vocals) and Yuichiro Matthew Kazama (drummer) split the duties of creating their raucous sound, replete with fist-pumping “yeahs” and “whoas”, plenty of guitar fuzz, crazy loud drumming and sometimes-indecipherable lyrics. While growing up in Tokyo the duo were influenced by the city’s experimental noise sound. Now settled in Minneapolis, they play alongside the likes of Dillinger Four, and locally you can find them at trusty venues such as the Turf Club. Their eight-track debut album “Cherry Blue” is currently out on Nice and Neat Records.
