With energetic, often injurious performances forged in the tradition of punk rock and a debut full length "Stance" reminiscent of Rick Rubin-era Def Jam, MC/VL has spent the last two and a half years ascending from basements and bedrooms to the Main room and the Triple Rock, emerging as a raucous alternative to the political and emotional rhyme artists currently dominating the independent hip-hop scene. The crew, composed of masters of ceremonies Mighty Clyde and Vicious Lee, as well as turntablist Professor BX, has been keeping good company on both sides of the hip-hop/rock divide, sharing bills with such artists as Low, Eyedea, Yo Majesty and Thunder in the Valley. With Jaws, a limited edition EP that proves "the highly entertaining debut was no fluke" (Onion AV Club), a spot in the City Pages' 2007 Picked to Click issue, and a sophomore full length slated for a summer release, it is advisable to keep MC/VL near your boom box and away from your girlfriend.
